The ANVIL MK2 has a wide range of improvements over the MK1. The most notable differences are the new 4.5mm stroke versus the MK1's 3.5mm stroke. The original Anvil was designed to be a do-it-all machine and an excellent all-rounder. After extensive testing by Jord and several associate tattooists at his shop in the UK, he opted to increase the stroke length. Although this change may seem insignificant, its effects are immediately noticeable during the tattooing process, making it easier to penetrate larger clusters and allowing faster, smoother work on packs and shadows. It was concluded that the new cam provides the optimum stroke length for this improved version.

The second major improvement is the redesigned body with a heavier weight. This ensures that the ANVIL MK2 rests more in the hand, providing an improved feeling of balance during tattoo execution.These improvements, combined with the addition of a new "strike screw" on the front of the armature bar and an elastic cover over the cam, along with several minor adjustments, contribute to a more pleasurable and efficient tattooing experience, while maintaining the same essence appreciated in the original Anvil.
