This book collects and considers over 80 of the most gory and disturbing works of art produced by Yoshitoshi during his career, presented in large format and in full colour. All of Yoshitoshi's ukiyo-e series between 1863 and 1870 would include a number of his characteristic scenes of carnage, in particular Eimei Nijuhasshuku (1866-68), a collaboration with his colleague Ochiai Yoshiiku. Sometimes referred to as "The Sadistic Blood Collection", this series was a blatant exercise in atrocity. Great reference. For adults only!
